Laundry expert Laura Greaves has been trying out a new product that promises to whiten white towels and socks – and it couldn’t be easier to use
There’s a hand towel in reporter Chanelle Georgina’s bathroom that often takes on an orange hue – and there’s a reason for this. As part of Chanelle’s skincare regime, she applies vitamin C serum to her face every morning using her clean fingertips.
Despite washing her hands afterwards, the orange serum tends to transfer onto her hand towel. By the end of the week, when it’s time for the weekly wash, the towel is noticeably stained.
Wanting to test a new product, Chanelle opted for the original Dr Beckmann GLOWHITE Everyday Whitening.
Promising to rejuvenate whites, prevent greying, and act as an “effective” stain remover, Chanelle decided to give it a whirl on her white laundry load.
Chanelle also threw in some grubby stained white socks into the washing machine drum, making the process incredibly straightforward, reports the Express.
All Chanelle did was add the white sachet (there are five in the box) to the washing machine drum filled with clothes and poured some detergent into the detergent drawer.
Next, Chanelle set a standard cycle wash at 40C that ran for an hour, followed by a spin cycle.
Once the washing cycle had finished, Chanelle retrieved my white laundry to see if it had worked.
Was shelling out £1.55 at Asda supermarket worth it?
(Bear in mind that Dr Beckmann GLOWHITE Everyday Whitening is available elsewhere, such as Wilko for £1.29).
After witnessing the results first-hand, with no pre-soaking necessary, Chanelle would say the product delivers on its promises.
Not only is Chanelle’s hand towel back to being white.
Thankfully her socks are noticeably much whiter than before too.
