It’s no secret the cost of living crisis has people clutching their pennies – and one woman has confessed she has to work ‘stupid’ hours in order to be able to afford her bills in London
One woman has shared the lengths she is going to in order to be able to afford living in London – and is having to work up to 70 hours a week to cover her bills and living costs.
Danni Clearly moved to London from Devon, but has to work all of the hours under the sun in able to afford her life, which includes babysitting after her 9-5 job.
The 25-year-old used to work in business operations but is now self-employed, works Monday to Friday 9 to 5:30, and as soon as she finishes she starts her second job.

She said the two jobs “only just about covers my bills, as well as my full time job” in a recent TikTok under the username @danniclearyy. In June, she revealed she had made £1,761.49 looking after 25 families which came to £1,252.04 after tax, transport fees and fees from the app that she uses.
Although Danni confessed she works “stupid” hours, leaving herself just five days a month where she wasn’t babysitting, while otherdays she worked multiple jobs. She claimed in July she made £1003.33 but did not work 17 days, 10 of which were her holiday and this meant after all the deductions, the total came to £751.41.
She charges £15 an hour for her babysitting services and detailed: “Now please don’t get me wrong I am so thankful to have a month like this however you need to remember that I live in London by myself. This only just about covers my bills, as well as my full time job.
“I mean I have a housemate but I live in London by myself, I have two cats, I live in a really nice apartment so my bills are substantially higher. So while this figure sounds phenomenal this only just about covers my bills as well as my full time job.”

But while she makes good money with her side hustle, she said to aspiring babysitters “you can’t base what you’re gonna earn off of what I earn because I work stupid hours”. She also noted it’s not a “get rich quick” scheme, and said she was just “unbelievably lucky with how this took off” but told people to be “mindful”.
Danni further advised: “Do not jump wholeheartedly into this thinking that’s how much I’m gonna make because everybody makes a completely different figure each month.”
However people were quick to chime in on her costs, with many telling her to charge more: “You should be charging £20-30 ph minimum if you can provide references and recommendation,” while another added: “£15 would be what a teenager would pay’ and a fourth commented ‘£15 is so cheap, especially for London?” A third simply called it “poverty wages”.
