A woman has shared how she earns an extra £6,000 per month with her side hustle. Beth Fuller joined TIkTok just seven months ago and says it has been a “wild ride” ever since.
The 27-year-old, who is based in Newcastle, now earns more than £16,000 on top of her full-time day job. Beth has also managed to pay off £8,000 of credit card debt, which she says was accumulated from not knowing how to manage her money.
Beth who works as a product owner for brand websites, told Absolutely Business: “As someone who didn’t come from money at all, this is nothing short of life-changing so I want to be sure not to waste it away and think incredibly smartly with every penny.”
The mum, who has a two-year-old daughter, says she initially got into the debt across two credit cards by poor money management, having not learnt how to budget. After teaching herself healthier habits and managing to pay back the £8,000, she started making TikToks “oversharing” about her finances, as well as securing paid content creation work.
Beth posts videos on things like her payday routine to budget for the coming month, sharing how much she spends on weekends and during holidays, and tips on home décor on a budget. She has been able to monetise this by using affiliate links within her posts, secures paid user generated content (UGC) work, brand deals and digital product sales.
Despite having the relatively low number of 25,000 followers on the app, Beth says it has been enough to earn her the impressive amount – though it has been a “steep learning curve” and requires some commitment.
Beth added: “I film on weekends and will do admin work across the evenings if any is needed. My full-time job has a lot of my time and devotion, and a typical day always starts with the parent hat on.
“We’re up early for the morning routine with us all out the house by about 7-7:30am for work. I then work till 5pm and once she’s in bed at about 8pm, I’ll typically have an hour in the evening for my content creation work. I try to shut off at no later than 9pm so I can have that chill on the couch time which is so important!
“It doesn’t take up much time and I see it as my hobby that I absolutely love. Some people have the gym or other activities and I feel like my ‘thing’ is content creation. It gives me so much energy and I genuinely love how many people I’ve met and spoken to since I’ve started.”
Beth had previously worked in content marketing and social media, so had some background knowledge of the industry. She said: “I had years of experience in it before I was brave enough to try content creation for myself – it’s scary to put yourself out there. I started my TikTok page about seven months ago and it’s been a wild ride since.
“I started earning money through content creation – predominantly using my audience on TikTok as I don’t have a large following on Instagram or YouTube – five months ago. Since then, I’ve earned a total of roughly £16,800 on the side of my full-time job.
“My first month I earned £700 and once I understood how the content creation industry worked its increased massively. “I’m now seeing £6,400 per month as my latest earnings.”
Beth has a specific goal in mind for her additional funds – she said: “I’m aiming to buy my mum a house with this content creation income. It goes into a limited company so it’s totally separate to my personal finances.
“I’d love to continue to learn and grow in my career and see if any other incredible future plans for our family can be supported by this amazing financial opportunity I now have thanks to having a TikTok following. It’s so surreal but I aim to use it in the most responsible way possible.”
