Iceland shoppers are seriously ‘excited’ to try the supermarket’s latest launch, which is a twist on an iconic sweet that will likely have been a staple of your childhood
When you were younger, there was nothing quite like being allowed to buy some sweets with your pocket money, and scoffing them all – and supermarket Iceland is helping those nostalgic feelings flourish with their new sweet release.
It’s getting warmer, and long sunny days in the park and warm evenings with pals are ahead of us. And when you’re with friends with nothing else to do but laze around in the sunshine, what’s better than eating a tasty ice lolly to cool you down? Well, Iceland has just the thing for those whose favourite childhood treat was Rainbow Drops. The 90-year-old Swizzels snack is made of rice and sugar-coated puffed maise, but Iceland has launched a lolly alternative for fans – and people are going wild for it.
When New Foods UK posted the treat on their social media, people flocked to the comments to express how excited they were to try it, with some saying they sounded “amazing”. “That’s your summer sorted”, somebody wrote, tagging one of their pals, and another pointed out that “kids will be happy”.
However, the treat wasn’t posted without criticism, as one woman penned: “Is anyone else thinking ‘but Rainbow Drops aren’t fruit flavoured…Or those colours?’ Pedantic I know”, but someone replied: “Not just you thinking that”.
But if this ice lolly flavour isn’t for you, Iceland has a variety of other nostalgic flavours on offer that are likely to excite you, including Vimto lollies, Fruit-Tella ice lollies, Milky Way ice cream cones, and Shrimps & Bananas ice lollies.
The exciting foodie news comes as Nestle has announced another yummy release. According to the Metro, a Nestle spokesperson said: “We’re excited to share our new Aero Strawberry Flavour sharing bar with chocolate fans. The bar brings together a smooth milk chocolate shell with a melt-in-the-mouth bubbly strawberry flavour centre.”
Some said that the chocolate sounded “amazing”, saying that they were “excited” to try it, but others said that strawberry flavour chocolate sounded “minging”.
