If you’re feeling a little bit lost and in need of some general life advice, fear not, as one woman has shared the things she wishes she knew at 25, that she now realises a decade later
A woman has shared that she recently had her 35th birthday, and there are some big life lessons she wishes she had known when she was 25. Wanting to impart her wisdom to some of her younger followers, she shared her big-sisterly advice about how you can go on a “self-love journey” sooner, rather than later.
Of course, making some mistakes along the way is how you learn life lessons, but Bambi, who posts on TikTok as @bambidoesbeauty, wants women to know their worth and respect themselves. In a carousel on the social media platform, she started it off with herself in bed with a cupcake and a party hat, celebrating her 35th.
The first life lesson she wants people to realise is “nobody treats you better than a man you don’t want”.
She also recommended that if you want a man to take you seriously, you follow the so-called “three month rule”.
According to dating app Bumble, “The ‘three month rule’ suggests that a relationship should either progress or fizzle out within about three months of dating. Essentially, by the 90-day mark, you should either be fully committed or realise it’s not working and move on”.
In the comments though, Bambi said: “People can hide their true selves (particularly when it comes to dating) for three months but no longer – that’s when you start to see who they really are and no earlier!”
Bambi also pointed out that you should “cherish your time” with your parents, as they “won’t be here forever”.
“A breakdown is just a breakthrough waiting to happen,” she shared, saying that when everything falls apart, it’s so you can realise how to piece everything back together.
When it comes to dating, Bambi warned that “red flags don’t turn green” and “the more you do for a man, the less he wants to do for you”.
She shared that “sometimes an apology isn’t redemption, it’s damage control” and “you get to decide your rock bottom”.
Finally, she posted a picture of herself as a child, saying: “As long as you’re alive, you can begin again and again and again”.
In the comments, people shared their advice too, with one woman writing: “You should never go for a man that you don’t want , NEVER , always go for the ones YOU want , hold your standards sis”.
Another said: “The more you do for him, the less he does for you – this has happened to me so many times, not just in romantic relationships, but even in friendships, familial relationships. Never understood why…”.
“Don’t fall for potential, you get what you see,” somebody penned, with a TikTok user saying red flags don’t turn green “hit hard”.
