A heavily tattooed gran has urged her followers to think twice before commenting after a barrage of hate on her page. She’s even been accused of crime simply because of her looks
A 41-year-old nan has been going viral after sharing videos on TikTok showing off her bold look – with 128 tattoos and 28 piercings.
But while the attention keeps coming, not all of it is kind. Strangers have flooded her comment sections with cruel remarks about her appearance, with some questioning how a mum – let alone a grandmother, could choose to look the way she does.
She’s now speaking out in the hopes of changing people’s perceptions. “I’m a very nice, very good person,” she says. “But people don’t see that – they just see tattoos and piercings and decide I’m scary or weird.”
Although it’s her heavily modified appearance that grabs attention, what seems to shock people just as much is that she’s a proud nan who simply loves body art. “I have 128 tattoos and 28 piercings. I’m a devoted mother and grandmother and I love it,” she says.
But that doesn’t stop the judgment. People in public often stare, whisper, or even assume she’s up to no good. Online, it’s worse with trolls sending her abusive messages and telling her she’s “wasting space”.
“The things they say can be awful,” she says. “They don’t know me, but they act like I’m a bad person just because of how I look. I’ve been accused of stealing, followed around shops, and told I look scary. It’s exhausting.”
Some of her piercings, she admits, spark even more shock – to the point that she can’t show on her social media. “A lot of my piercings I can’t even put on here because they bleed and they’re called graphic,” she explains.
Despite it all, she tries not to let the negativity break her spirit but it isn’t always easy. “It doesn’t affect me. It does, but it doesn’t,” she says. “I try to stay strong, but sometimes I feel myself getting upset thinking about it. People are so quick to judge. That’s the worst part.”
One person who’s never judged her is her daughter who’s always seen past the ink and piercings. “I think my mother is perfect the way she is,” she says. “I wouldn’t want her to look like anybody else.”
And that’s the message she wants the world to hear that beneath the body art is just a woman who loves her family, lives her truth, and refuses to change for anyone. “If my grandbaby can look at me and not be scared,” she adds, “then no one else should be either”
Her face is almost unrecognisable from what it once was since she is now covered in piercings and tattoos. She shares details about her life on Tiktok – @lefthanded_granny.
