A Vinted seller who has success selling her unwanted clothes and accessories ‘every month’ has said there’s one tip she would give any beginner – and it’s all to do with time
When you do a big wardrobe cleanout to get rid of clothing that no longer fits you or you just don’t wear anymore, it’s common to put everything in a bag and take it to a charity shop. But if you’ve got expensive vintage pieces or items that are in immaculate condition, you might want to try and get some of your money back for them – which is where secondhand selling sites like Vinted, eBay, and even Facebook Marketplace come in.
Trying to sell your items isn’t always easy, and sometimes it can feel like your clothes just aren’t getting looked at. Taking the right photos and setting the perfect description can help your listings look more appealing, but according to one successful Vinted seller, there’s something else you can do to boost your profile.
The woman, named Rachel, said in a video on TikTok she sells on Vinted “every single month” and constantly has success with it, and believes her products sell because she lists them at a very specific time.
She said the key is to list your products toward the end of the month, as that’s when most people get paid – and therefore when they’ll have disposable cash to spend on new clothes and accessories.
Rachel explained: “List things at the end of the month. This is when most people get paid, towards the end of the month or the start of the new one, so follow that.
“Of course, I know that doesn’t apply to everyone, but it does for the majority.”
Making sure your product listings are fresh and use up-to-date tags is often a tip Vinted sellers give to ensure your listings get pushed to the top of people’s searches, and putting items up for sale at the same time people are actually looking to buy them is a great way to do this.
Rachel also recommended buying some bags to ship your items in before you start selling, as it will save you having to rush to the shops once you’ve made a sale.
She said: “My second tip is to always be organised and have your mailing bags ready. That way, when you make a sale, you can package it up and get it gone.
“The bigger picture on this is that it will actually help you get the most positive reviews, good feedback, and you get the money in your account quicker.”
Commenters on the post were thankful for the expert’s tips, as many of them said they had been struggling to make any sales on secondhand selling sites.
One person said: “Thank you for the advice!”
Another added: “Yes, [listing at] the end of the month does work.”
A third also posted: “I’ve got loads of clothes I’ve just put on Vinted, I’m going to try this!”
