Woman received 5,000 boyfriend applications is still single after ‘blood’ message
A woman who received 5,000 ‘boyfriend applications’ is still single one year on – with some of the bids being far too bizarre to consider.
Last year, Vera Dijkmans announced via TikTok that she was taking applications from men wanting a shot at being her boyfriend, and the CVs quickly started to flood in. The model asked prospective beaus to fill out a detailed questionnaire about themselves, including whether they still live with their parents, have ‘booty calls’ and whether or not they own a car.
Out of the thousands of applicants seeking to woo her – including one famous suitor – only three proved to be appealing, while one grim ‘blood’ message failed to impress…
London-based Vera, who has never been in a long-term relationship, shared: “I’d say I received around 5,000 applications but after going through most of them, I found just three guys who I thought were suitable. said I went on a date with them – but I’m currently still single.
“Despite this disappointing result, I still consider the experiment a success since I was able to be upfront of what I want and see which men fit that criteria. I had to filter through quite a lot of strange applications.
“One man offered to send me a sample of his blood and asked for mine in return – which I ignored. I also had a famous person slide into my DMs; I can’t say who it is but I definitely didn’t expect it! Most of the applicants were from Texas and a lot of them had the Aquarius star sign.”
One would-be Romeo stated that, although he lives with his parents and doesn’t own a car, he does have two boats, while another vowed never to hit on Vera’s friends – which she believes really should be a given. A third bragged about his full-time career while refusing to allow her to have the bigger closet.
Although Vera enjoyed the challenge, going forward, she’s decided to look offline for her Mr Right, and refuses to compromise. Vera’s ideal man would be funny and possess good taste in music while bringing in his own income. She also hopes he’d like watching cartoons.
According to Vera: “At the moment, I’ve put the boyfriend search on hold but I’m keeping my options open. I’m just very picky and I need a guy to be almost perfect. I don’t think I should have to compromise on my needs – I’d rather be single until I find the man I’m meant to be with.”
She added: “I wouldn’t do another application process online. If I do it again, I will probably make it a real-life event.”
