The owners of a restaurant in San Diego have covered the walls of its bathroom in dozens of negative one-star reviews left by disgruntled customers, much to the bafflement of people online

Most restaurants don’t react well to negative reviews – after all, poor feedback has the potential to ruin any business’ fortunes.

One eatery appears to have very little concern whatsoever, however, after proudly plastering the walls of its bathroom with a series of one-star reviews from past customers. Written in bright white and yellow fonts on a black background, the remarks are sure to catch the eye whilst patrons use the facilities.

A Reddit user shared a snap of the bathroom wall and wrote: “Restaurant I went to used their negative reviews as wall art in the bathroom.” They later confirmed the restaurant in question is The Crack Shack in San Diego, California.

One bad review on the wall read: “My guess is people making the sandwiches decided to screw me over.” A second wrote: “I’m sorry but this place must be staying afloat due to some crafty social media influencers.”

A third said: “The homeless guy I gave the leftovers to said he did not want food from here.” And a fourth scathing review declared: “Pros – upbeat music, fun atmosphere, quality food. Cons – don’t ask to have your sandwich cut in half.”

Scores of Redditors slammed the restaurant, stating that such comments were nothing to be proud of. “I mean if you can fill four walls worth of negative reviews maybe there’s something bad about that establishment,” one person cursed.

Another said: “It’s funny when it’s one terrible review you make fun of. But if a restaurant has this many negative reviews it’s a good sign that I should not be spending my money there.” And a third concurred: “The occasional bad review is understandable. Having enough to plaster the walls of your bathrooms, means you’re doing something (or a few things) wrong.”

Other Reddit users explained that the decorative idea might actually have a positive impact, however. One suggested: “At this point, I’d expect people to compete for the best negative review so their review ends up on the bathroom wall.”

A second said: “That’s ingenious. Any real negative reviews will be hidden in the ridiculous and inevitably humorous reviews. If you see a restaurant on Google that’s always busy with a 1 star you’d be curious as to why.”
