The chilling event – returning for its fifth year – will be held at the derelict Camelot theme park, with organisers guaranteeing guests will leave ‘believing in pure evil’
A deserted UK theme park is set to be transformed into a terrifying Halloween spectacle as it hosts the popular Scare City event.
The spine-chilling event, which is returning to the North West for its fifth year, will take place at the derelict Camelot theme park in Chorley, Lancashire. Organisers are promising guests an experience so horrifying that they’ll leave ‘believing in pure evil’. The award-winning scare-fest will feature 11 petrifying zones hidden within the depths of the abandoned theme park. Visitors can expect the return of some familiar faces as part of the gruesome and terrifying Carni Valley set.
Set against the haunting backdrop of a vast abandoned theme park, the event organisers have vowed that this year’s events will be ‘bigger, better, and bloodier than ever before’. The relentless trail of horror combines detailed set design and live actors across multiple zones, promising to scare the living daylights out of any brave visitors, reports the Daily Star.
This year’s event is expected to feature a range of terrifying zones including the Slaughter House, home to Camelot’s resident cannibal who has scheduled his annual dinner party, alongside Junkyard and the bone-chilling Reaper’s Reach. Visitors are being warned about the unveiling of their new zone ‘Arakhne’, where brave guests will face the terrifying ordeal of entering the spider queen’s web and encountering eerie creatures along the journey.
In the midst of the screams and terror, brave visitors can find solace in the ‘Resurrection Zone’, where food and drinks are available for a mid-way pit stop. This provides thrill-seekers with an opportunity to refuel before plunging back into the abandoned site for more spine-chilling experiences.
Originally launched as a drive-in cinema event in Manchester in 2020, Scare City has since been awarded the title of Best Scare Attraction of 2023 by ScareTrack. Their website teases terrifying SFX and hair-raising encounters, promising an unparalleled Halloween event. This year’s line-up of zones includes Slaughterhouse, Carnivalley, Arakhne, Basilica of Galgani, Infirmary, Reaper’s Ranch, Junkyard, Vallis Mortis, Resurrection Zone and Contained.
