Brits looking for a dose of staycation inspiration may want to head to North Wales, where you can hire a gorgeous cottage with a hot tub and views of seals and dolphins, from just £40 a night.
Goferydd, a luxury holiday cottage located minutes away from the iconic South Stack lighthouse in Anglesey, offers up the chance to wake up to the sound of waves crashing against the shore, taking taking long beach walks, and dipping your toes in the water before warming up by a cosy fire.
Just a few hours’ drive from Greater Manchester, Anglesey boasts miles of beautiful coastline, featuring sandy coves and rugged cliffs. This island off North Wales is also a wildlife haven, where puffins, seals, and dolphins are often spotted along the coast, reports the Manchester Evening News.
The luxury cottage provides an ideal base for soaking up these sights. The charming white-washed cottage sleeps up to nine guests and offers panoramic views across the Irish Sea. With easy access to nearby beaches, guests can explore rock pools or even brave a sea swim. The cottage is dog-friendly, so there’s no need to leave your furry friend at home. In fact, dogs are treated as valued guests, with special washing facilities, beds, towels, and bowls all provided.
Goferydd is the perfect spot for a cosy coastal retreat. Upon entering through the spacious porch, you’re greeted by a large open-plan kitchen diner, perfect for whipping up a delicious meal after a day of exploring. Adjacent to this is a snug area, complete with a 70-inch smart TV and Playstation for the little ones.
The upstairs houses the master bedroom, boasting a king-size bed and private bathroom with sea views. There’s also a twin bedroom ideal for children, leading to a sizeable family bathroom equipped with a walk-in shower, sinks and a nickel-plated bathtub.
The cottage caters to larger groups or multi-generational family holidays, offering a separate annexe featuring a king-sized bedroom, twin beds on a mezzanine floor and an additional Italian marble family bathroom.
There are also private own gardens, including a decked dining area and a luxurious hot tub – the perfect spot to unwind with a glass of bubbly while taking in the scenery. Goferydd is nestled within an RSPB nature reserve, where large colonies of puffins are often seen fishing in the nearby waters.
Keep your eyes peeled for seals and dolphins too – it might be worth packing some binoculars. The location is perfect for watching the sunset, and thanks to Anglesey’s Dark Sky Reserve status, you can indulge in some stargazing.
The cottage’s doorstep opens up to numerous walking trails, and family-friendly beaches like Borth Wen are just a stone’s throw away, perfect for activities such as kayaking, snorkelling, sailing, swimming, fishing and surfing. For the adventurous souls, the secluded Porth Wen beach with remnants of an old harbour is just a short drive away.
Goferydd can be booked for three, four or seven night stays. A four-night midweek stay in May starts from £1,450 – just over £40 a night if nine adults are staying.
Summer prices start from £1,990 based on a midweek, four-night stay in July, which works out at a little over £55 a night per guest, if the house is full. For more information and to book, visit the Rest and Rewild website.
