Town centres across London are often a hub for illegal activity – whether it be theft, shoplifting, violent crime or drug trafficking.
Recent levels of crime in the capital prompted the Metropolitan Police to launch an ambitious campaign targeting 20 of the city’s hotspots. Between 30 June and August 10, 1,376 arrests were made – up a third from the same period last year.
The Safer Summer Streets campaign involves visible policing and targeted patrols in specific areas of London.
