Eagle-eyed Instagram users are threatening to delete the app for good after Meta subtly made an other ‘ugly’ tweak to its appearance. However, others seem to be unphased by the new look
Meta has made a subtle tweak to Instagram – and Brits are absolutely raging.
Pouring salt onto the wound from its non-chronological feeds shakeup and numberless likes, the photo-based app has once again annoyed its users with a little unwelcome update. If you spend most of your evenings doom-scrolling on IG, you may already know what we’re talking about. If not, have a quick look and see if you can see the difference.
Don’t worry – they haven’t done an Elon Musk and totally changed the name to ‘I’. In fact, all they’ve introduced is a slightly larger font when visiting a profile.
X (formerly Twitter) was flooded with complaints from users, with one disgruntled person writing: “Instagram slightly changed the font and it’s making my skin crawl.” Another agreed, stating: “I feel like the people at Instagram just sit around brainstorming how they can come up with uglier new fonts all day like STOP.”
A third described the change as ‘hideous’ and ‘ugly – while a third claimed the new font ‘makes me want to delete the app’. “Instagram changed the f***ing font again are you joking?” fumed a fifth.

Some optimists welcomed the change, arguing they were ‘obsessed’ with the new font. “It’s so good,” one user raved. Another agreed, commenting:” I love the new font on Instagram.”
Others speculated the change may be to make Meta’s collection of apps (which includes Facebook, Threads, Whatsapp and Instagram) more cohesive. “[It’s] most likely due to brand consistency and uniformity, cause the new font looks so much like the one on threads,” one person wrote. Either way, we’re sure people will get over the update soon – just in time for the next shakeup…
