Apple will reveal some major news later tomorrow that will bring a swathe of new features to millions of iPhones.
If you own an iPhone then it’s definitely worth clearing your diary for tomorrow night. The countdown has now started to Apple’s big WWDC Developers Conference and although that event might sound a little tedious, this yearly showcase always reveals new features coming to devices such as the iPhone, iPad and MacBook.
The main event kicks off from Apple’s HQ in Cupertino California at 6pm on Monday, June 10th and it could be one of the most exciting in years.
Although Apple always keeps its cards very close to its chest, rumours are rife that the US firm will use WWDC 2024 to showcase a swathe AI upgrades that should make using its devices faster and much, much smarter.
This will be part of the upcoming iOS 18 upgrade which will replace iOS 17 later this year.
It’s thought that the Siri personal assistant is in for a major overhaul allowing it to help you find more things on your phone and even be able to control features within apps.
Another AI boost could be coming to Photos with instant retouching and pro-style enhancements with one touch of a button.
There are even some suggestions that Apple could follow Google by providing a “Clean up” option that would remove unwanted objects or photobombers from images without needing a degree in Photoshop.
Another Google-style extra could be the ability to transcribe recordings into editable text. This is something Pixel devices (and more recently Samsung’s Galaxy) have offered for a while and it would be a welcome addition to the iPhone.
Other rumours include AI-generated emojis coming to messages, a home screen boost allowing apps to be placed anywhere on the display rather than being locked to the usual grid and a revamp to the settings menu to make it easier to navigate. Apple could even be working on a feature that stops you from feeling sick when using phones in a car.
Tomorrow’s news won’t just be about the iPhone, we also expect Apple to add new features to its Apple Watch, iPads and MacBooks as well.
We could also finally find out when the space-aged Vision Pro headset is arriving in the UK. This device, which can mix real and virtual worlds together, has been on sale in the US since the start of the year and a worldwide release could now be imminent.
The big keynote starts at 10am local time, 6pm BST, and Mirror Online will bring you all the news live – watch this space.
