A woman, who was convinced her best friend of 20 years was her ‘soulmate’ and ‘twin flame’ was desperate for him to leave his wife to be with her – but he kept changing the goal posts
A woman has caused controversy after admitting she thinks her best friend of 20 years is her “twin flame” – but he’s married.
A woman has made the huge admission, saying she’s “convinced” that her married pal is her “soulmate”. She recently detailed the history between the pair, sharing that they tried to date and it didn’t work out, but years later, she’s still convinced that they have, and have always had, “electric chemistry” together – despite the fact that he’s been married since 2008, and has children.
The woman explained on the Everybody Has A Secret podcast, where they read out a dilemma from Reddit, that he’s a “successful businessman worth millions”, and in 2012 – when he was married – they tried to “restart their relationship as lovers”, but on a romantic trip to Rome, they had an “explosive argument” and she flew home by herself because she was so annoyed.
In 2015, they “started sleeping together”, but she said it wasn’t clear where they were “heading”, so she ended it. She explained that despite the “volatility”, they still spoke all the time because they are best friends and they “can’t stay away from each other”.
In August 2023, they “gave it another crack, secretly of course”, and they’re “still seeing each other to this day” – but she said they were now “wildly and madly in love with each other”.
“He even told me he will leave his wife at the end of the year so we can finally be together in the open”, she claimed. But things got more complicated when she admitted that she’d led her family to believe that her best friend and his wife were “separated” to make their ongoing situation seem legit. However, his family aren’t even aware that the pair are friends anymore as he’s kept her a “secret”.
However, things had become even more complicated as he’d “pushed the date back another year” when they could be together, claiming his wife wasn’t “mentally ready” for them to not be together. “He said he’s worried about what she might do if he leaves”, she said. Another excuse he’d used was that he was worried about his son’s “academic performance” if he left his mum.
She said she was torn whether he’d keep pushing the date back, but she said that she felt this time was “different” as she’d met some of his friends and colleagues – but she didn’t know what to do. “How long should I wait for him when I know he’s the love of my life?”, she asked.
In the comments, someone wrote: “Every time I hear anybody talking about their Twin Flame it’s red flags! They’re always super toxic relationships.” Another pointed out: “If he married someone else he’s not your Twin Flame”. “He will never ever leave his wife”, another penned, “They both need to move on and never speak again”.
A TikToker pointed out: “When you feel like someone is your soulmate/twin flame, it doesn’t always mean you’re meant to be together. You are simply each other’s reflection”, and another agreed: “So my thoughts on this: it could very well be her twin flame but it’s not going to happen in this lifetime.”
