Looking forward to a tasty meal in the evening can brighten your entire day, and you don’t need an elaborate recipe to whip up something incredibly flavoursome.

Jamie Oliver’s crispy garlicky chicken needs just five ingredients and takes under 15 minutes to prepare from start to finish. This represents the ideal recipe for weeknight cooking when you crave something warming for dinner without any hassle.

On his website, Jamie said: “Super-simple to put together, this is a great, fast method for really good, crispy crumbed chicken, and I’ve added garlic for extra flavour. Pounding the chicken, both before adding the crumbs and to help them to stick, tenderises the meat and makes it even quicker to cook.” It comes as McDonald’s confirms ‘long awaited return’ is coming on September 10.

Make Jamie Oliver’s crispy garlicky chicken

Ingredients

  • Two chicken breasts (120g each)
  • Two thick slices of wholemeal bread (75g each)
  • One clove of garlic
  • One lemon
  • 50g of rocket leaves

Kitchen equipment needed

  • Frying pan
  • Greaseproof baking paper
  • Food processor

To start, position the chicken breasts between two large sheets of baking paper. Then bash them with the bottom of a frying pan or with a rolling pin to flatten them out.

Rip the bread into pieces and place in a food processor, then chop up the garlic and add it too. Blitz the bread and garlic together until you achieve fine breadcrumbs, then scatter them over the chicken.

Cover the coated chicken with baking paper once more and bash them to pound the crumbs into the meat.

Put a frying pan on a medium heat and cook the chicken for three minutes on each side until crispy, golden brown and fully cooked through. Drizzle the lemon juice over the rocket leaves.

Once the chicken is cooked, slice it and arrange it on a plate with the lemony rocket – your delicious chicken dish is now ready to be served.
