Kate Garraway takes style notes from Princess Kate in a very affordable tea dress
Our go-to source of fashion inspiration at the moment comes from daytime TV, and specifically, daytime TV presenters like Kate Garraway, Ranvir Singh and Lisa Snowdon. They’ve all been nailing the ‘smart casual’ but still cool and on-trend brief perfectly, and we’re finding plenty of affordable fashion pieces thanks to them.
This week, GMB host Kate is introducing us to a dress that looks very Kate Middleton-inspired – and for a very reasonable £45. The Finery London Nieve Crepe Midi Tea Dress has a Princess Kate-like midi silhouette with V neck detailing, pretty buttons and cap sleeves.
Polka dots never really go out of style, but this Finery Nieve Crepe Midi Tea Dress makes them feel fresh again. The cut is pure ‘throw-on polished’ with a nipped waist, gathered bust and flattering V-neckline. The crepe fabric drapes just enough to skim the body, giving it a relaxed attitude that works as well on a desk-to-dinner day as it does on a weekend.

The bold red print taps into autumn’s cherry colourway trend, while the tea-dress silhouette keeps it wearable and versatile. Its midi length means it pairs just as well with knee boots and a blazer as it does with strappy sandals. We love how Kate (Garraway) styles it to look cohesive with a pair of matching low red heels. Heading into autumn, though, some patent red boots would give a similar colourblock effect while keeping your toes warm.
You may have noticed that polka dots have become a print of choice for Kate Middleton – and it’s for a reason. Royal experts often speculate why she comes back to dotty designs time and time again for royal engagements, with the consensus being that she wants to appear approachable. “Polka dots are a youthful, approachable and playful design. They can make an elegant and sophisticated style more relatable and are quite easy for high-street designers to produce,” style expert Susie Nelson told The Express. “Princess Diana and the late Queen Elizabeth II were fans of polka dots, and they are also worn by Princess Beatrice.”
Away from Kate GMB dress, you can find plenty of other Princess Kate-inspired pieces on the high street at the moment. Over at Monsoon, can find an elegant and versatile midi dress in Kate’s beloved blue and white polka dot print up for grabs for a fraction of its normal price thanks to an end-of-season sale.
Touted as the perfect dress for any special occasion, this Sicily Fit and Flair number has been coined by Grazia as the most popular style on the internet. It features a fitted, sleeveless bodice that accentuates and flatters the body, while the fit-and-flare skirt creates a timeless silhouette that looks good on everyone.
