The Prince and Princess of Wales were the first to greet Donald Trump at Windsor today and a lip reader has revealed what the US leader said to Kate after disembarking his helicopter
Donald Trump gave a flattering remark to Kate Middleton just moments after landing at Windsor with his wife Melania Trump this afternoon.
The US President, 79, disembarked Marine One for his historic state visit where he was greeted by the Prince and Princess of Wales. Expert lip reader Jeremy Freeman analysed the footage showing the American leader and the First Lady meeting the royals. And according to him, Trump immediately showed his love for the royals and Kate in particular.
The POTUS, according to Jeremy, told Kate in his very first conversation of the day: “You’re so beautiful, so.” William and Kate turned on the royal charm outside Victoria house where Trump was given a military ceremonial show. You can keep up to date with the latest from the state visit with the Mirror’s live blog.
After his introductions with William and Kate, Trump, a huge royal fan, was then welcomed by King Charles and Queen Camilla while a royal salute fired from First World War-style guns on the east lawn of Windsor Castle and at the Tower of London.
After a guard of honour, Charles and Trump were seen laughing together with the latter saying “thanks very much” multiple times.
The King then shared a coach alongside Trump during a carriage procession through the Windsor Estate. The Queen meanwhile shared a coach with Melania.
Trump landed on the Windsor estate at 12.14pm which was 20 minutes later than what was expected.
Despite the hugely respectful welcome for his second full state visit, not everyone in the UK was happy to see Trump, and artist Maya Kar took to the streets of Windsor earlier to show a painting depicting Trump as a wild “stone age savage” having kidnapped a child-like King Charles from Windsor Castle.
He told the Mirror: “I depict him as a stone age hunter. He don’t know the rules. He don’t know nothing. He don’t know protocol.”
Speaking about Trump, he added: “He don’t know anything. He will just come and act like a[n] idiot. And make a mess.
“Make us [Brits] embarrassed and go.”
Four people were also arrested after images of Trump and Jerffrey Epstein were projected onto Windsor Castle.
Trump is expected to enjoy a state banquet this evening, just like in 2019 when the leader sat down with the late Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace during his first state visit to the UK.
