The Red Arrows made a spectacular flypast over Buckingham Palace for King Charles’ birthday celebration
While the Trooping the Colour ceremony is meant to celebrate the King’s official birthday a lot of attention was on Catherine, Princess of Wales today (Saturday, June 15). This was Kate Middleton’s first public appearance since her cancer diagnosis and her triumphant return was capped by a Buckingham Palace balcony appearance with other members of the Royal Family as the Red Arrows flew overhead.
She attended with Prince William and their three young children Prince Louis, Prince George and Princess Charlotte with Louis stealing the show again. Louis, the youngest prince, was pictured yawning, trying to open a window and dancing to the military music as the princess and her young family watched the pomp and pageantry in Horse Guards Parade in honour of the King.
Kate’s chemotherapy is still ongoing but she appeared to be relaxed during her first day back in the spotlight, keeping a watchful eye on her children.

The King rode to the ceremony in a horse-drawn carriage beside Queen Camilla – a departure from last year when he rode on horseback as he too is suffering with cancer, diagnosed last year. He inspected troops from the coach rather than on horseback.
Bad weather was a feature of the ceremony sadly, with particularly heavy rain just as the royals left Horse Guards Parade where the main parade was held. The weather thankfully cleared just as the fly over by the red arrows and 30 other RAF aircraft arrived.
