The Princess of Wales has revealed how she has spent her time since stepping back from royal engagements in March, when she announced she was undergoing preventative treatment
The Princess of Wales has revealed how she has been spending her life since stepping back from public life earlier this year.
The Princess, 42, was diagnosed with an undisclosed cancer several months ago, and, now undergoing “preventative treatment” has ceased public royal duties. In a recent statement, her first since informing the public of her behind-the-scenes battle, she told people how she has been spending the last few months.
The statement, released today alongside a stunning new photo of the royal posing outside, saw her admit that she has endured some “harder times”. She explained that she is “making good progress”, but still has both “good and bad days” as she continues her treatment.
She said: “I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days. On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.”
The royal added that she has “a few more months” of treatment, but that when she feels well, she has spent her time on “things that give me energy and positivity”. She added: “My treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months. On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home.”
While expanding on her recent personal experiences, the Princess also looked to the future with a hopeful eye. Kensington Palace confirmed earlier today that she is “expected” to attend Trooping the Colour, the King’s official birthday, and would be travelling with her children in a state carriage down the mall.
She added that, over the next few months, she hopes to “join a few public engagements” over the summer. But both she and the Palace have said her upcoming duties – including Trooping the Colour – are not set in stone, as they will depend on her overall health. The Princess said she will carry out work “knowing I am not out of the woods”, while the Palace added that plans could change at the last minute.
