Princess Kate is said to be conducting something of a ‘quiet rebellion’ against royal life after her health challenges brought her a new perspective, it has been reported

When Princess Kate sat alone on a bench last year and filmed an emotional message to the nation explaining that she was undergoing cancer treatment, it sent shockwaves across the country. At the same time, the Princess of Wales announced that she would have to take a break from public life as she focused on her recovery.

During the candid video statement, she also appealed for privacy for herself and her young children – Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, six – as the Wales family went through the challenging period. After taking some time to focus on herself and her health, Kate has since returned to royal duties, once more conducting official engagements.

However, insiders have claimed that the future Queen has been “quietly rebelling” against some of the expectations of royal life since returning to the public eye. “Kate understands now that life’s too short to keep agreeing to every demand. Her cancer battle really shifted her perspective”, a source claimed to news publication Radar Online.

“She’s stopped trying to please everyone,” the source continued. “Her outlook is different now, and she’s finally paying attention to what her body and mind need. She’s finally learned the power of saying no.”

Instead, it’s reported that the Princess is focused on maintaining healthy boundaries, keeping her mindset, well-being, and children as her top priority. The insider added that Kate can “serve without losing herself in the process”.

Royal expert Robert Jobson has previously echoed these sentiments, explaining that Kate’s cancer journey has brought with it a new point of view on how to approach her royal duties. “Before, she used to live her life by the calendar,” the expert told Marie Claire.

“And now she is living her life, and the calendar comes in after.

“She will be back, but when you have had an experience like this, it changes your perspective and the order of things.”

Kate herself has been candid about the perspective shift that her health struggles brought. When she announced that she had completed her chemotherapy, she said in a statement: “Life as you know it can change in an instant, and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown.

“The cancer journey is complex, scary, and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you.

“With humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything.

“This time has, above all, reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved.”
