King’s Cross St Pancras Underground station appears to have been closed due to an incident of public disorder. Barriers to the London Underground entrance were blocked, with police officers from a public order team guarding the North London station at around 12:30pm on Sunday (May 26), according to a video posted on social media.
Earlier this morning, Leeds United football fans were filmed singing an offensive song about Rishi Sunak as they marched through the railway station concourse ahead of the Championship playoff final against Southampton at Wembley in North West London.
Other videos show football fans letting off flares outside the station. In the past the station has been temporarily shut after flares were let off inside the station.
A Met Police spokesperson told MyLondon the London Underground part of the station was temporarily shutdown by British Transport Police officers, but could not confirm if there had been any violence or arrests.
A source at the station suggested the reason for the closure may have been fans letting off flares, but added that the London Underground station had since reopened.
BTP and TfL have been approached for comment.
