The European leg of Lady Gaga’s Mayhem Ball world tour kicked off at the O2 this week, but fans were left concerned as one entrance quickly became overrun with fans

Lady Gaga fans have shared videos of the “chaotic” scenes as the European leg of the superstar’s Mayhem Ball world tour launched at The O2 on Monday night (September 29). Gaga, born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, is set to perform at the London venue again on October 2 and 4, before travelling to Manchester’s Co-op Live.

Concert-goer Ellie Field posted on TikTok after massive crowds of the Abracadabra singer’s followers – dubbed ‘Little Monsters’ – assembled en masse inside the venue. “It was MAYHEM,” she announced in a caption. “It was wild! Also there was a rumour that she was coming on at 7.30pm so everyone was panicking, she came on at 8.30pm.”

In another video, a fan called Stacy captured the scene from a similar spot, pointing out that others could have used a different, less crowded entrance rather than simply rushing to the same one. She advised fellow attendees: “The queue to get into entrance B was HUGE! Never seen the O2 like it. Right out to the train station. Go round to the other entrance when you arrive.”

Responding to Ellie, others voiced their annoyance after getting trapped amongst the crowds. “This was absolute chaos,” one person complained. “There was no structure, everyone was barging in and out of ‘queues’ and so claustrophobic. Never seen something so bad trying to get into a concert.”

Another condemned: “It was awful – especially for those with access needs.”

A third fan said: “It was really frustrating because the Amex lounge clearly stated that it was open at 5.30pm so loads of people were queuing up for no reason. It also said on the screens that doors open at 5.30pm but they didn’t until 6.30pm. Then once they opened the doors everyone pushed in anyway so we spent almost two hours queuing for no reason.”

Gaga later graced the stage to deliver a 32-song setlist featuring hits spanning her career.

Her performance was divided into four parts, with Act I: Of Velvet And Vice seeing her belt out tracks such as Judas and Poker Face. Act II: And She Fell Into A Gothic Dream delighted fans with renditions of Alejandro and Paparazzi, meanwhile.

Act III: The Beautiful Nightmare That Knows Her Name featured crowd-pleasers such as Applause and Just Dance, while Act IV: Every Chessboard Has Two Queens included Born This Way and The Edge of Glory.

Gaga also performed the Finale: The Eternal Aria of the Monster Heart, singing Bad Romance, before wrapping up with a two-song encore.

The O2 has been invited to respond.
