LEGO celebrates Star Wars Day with new sets including TIE Interceptor collectible

Star Wars fans can get three free gifts worth up to £260 with the purchase of select LEGO sets until May 5 as part of the toy brand’s Star Wars Day sales event

Star Wars fans around the world will celebrate the iconic franchise this weekend for Star Wars Day. Taking place on Saturday, May 4, it is the annual celebration of all things Star Wars, whether that’s the original George Lucas trilogy that began in 1977 or the latest Disney shows.

Fans can celebrate the day by diving into one of the many beloved titles in the sci-fi series, like the entire Skywalker Saga and a host of shows like The Mandalorian and The Bad Batch, all of which are streaming now on Disney+. Star Wars Day commonly sees a raft of new merchandise, with this year seeing the release of some brand-new and collectible LEGO sets.

This Star Wars Day is a double celebration for the Danish toy brand as this year also marks the 25th anniversary of LEGO Star Wars. The brand is running a Star Wars sales event until May 5, with new sets available to buy now from the LEGO website including iconic ships and beloved characters from across the franchise.

First up is the new set is the 1,931-piece Ultimate Collector Series (UCS) TIE Interceptor for £199.99, originally released in 2000 and now back with a new and redesigned version. First seen in Return of the Jedi, this set is an impressive 40cm long and comes complete with an exclusive TIE Pilot minifigure and Mouse Droid figure – currently limited to this set – plus a stand with a printed plaque.

From May 1-5, LEGO Star Wars fans will receive three free gifts worth a total of £260 when buying the new TIE Interceptor. The bonus sets include the Battle of Yavin collectible – depicting Darth Vader’s cockpit view, the Trade Federation Troop Carrier set commemorating the 25th anniversary of The Phantom Menace and the AAT building set.

The Phantom Menace fans can dive into building a dynamic snapshot of Tatooine with the Mos Espa Podrace Diorama set for £69.99. The 718-piece display set includes a young Anakin Skywalker, the Arch Canyon and a plaque showing Qui-Gon Jinn’s advice: “Remember. Concentrate on the moment. Feel. Don’t think. Use your instincts.”

For those who prefer the dark side can pick up Darth Maul’s Sith Infiltrator set for £59.99. The 640-piece set features fold-out wings, retractable landing gear, and two spring-loaded shooters, plus a trigger that can be used to drop three probe droids from the front compartment as seen in The Phantom Menace.

There’s also the brick-built 583-piece Droideka set for £59.99, so you can build your very own destroyer droid first seen in the original prequel film. The Mandalorian fans can relive his dramatic Jedi Temple escape for £24.99 with the 221-piece BARC Speeder Escape – complete with Kelleran Beq figure – as seen in the latest series of Disney+ show.

Those who prefer brick-built display characters are also in for a treat with the set of six collectible LEGO BrickHeadz figures for £49.99, featuring Qui-Gon Jinn, Darth Maul, Jar Jar Binks, Anakin Skywalker, Queen Amidala, Captain Panaka. For Revenge of the Sith fans, there is also a BrickHeadz Clone Commander Cody set for £9.99

As well as these awesome sets, also launching for pre-order on May 1 is the new LEGO Star Wars Coffee Table Book, The Force of Creativity. For £129.99, this 312-page hardcover book – complete with slipcase with collective memorabilia – takes fans on a journey through interviews with more than 50 contributors from the LEGO Group and Lucasfilm alongside development art and character designs.

Alternatively, a range of LEGO deals can be found at other retailers, including the Millennium Falcon set which is now £50 off at £99.99 from Very and Amazon. The AT-TE Walker is £25 off at £94.99, while the Darth Vader Helmet Collectible Building Kit is £15 off at £54.99.
