People who shop at Lidl can get their hands on free food for the next few weeks if they are in the know of a hack which is super simple. And you can use it once every day to bag freebies
Soaring food prices are still affecting cash-strapped Brits – but luckily there are ways of cutting down the price of your weekly shop.
Lidl was crowned as the UK’s second cheapest supermarket in April 2024, with Aldi coming up top. And if their cheaper prices weren’t enough of a reason to shop there, it is also handing out free food to those who know this little-known hack.
TIkTok content creator @catchagem often shares tips and tricks that can be used to “live a better life”. In a recent clip, uploaded to the video sharing platform, Catch A Gem shared “how to get free food from Lidl with your shop”. According to the content creator, shoppers can get free fruit from Lidl using a “spin to win offer” – and you can use it with every shop.
The savvy shopper explained: “Lidl will give you free food just for shopping with them every single day from the 16th of May until the 12th of June. All you have to do is make sure you have the Lidl Rewards App and then from May 16th you’re going to see a spin-to-win offer in your app.
“All you need to do is buy anything [excludes infant formula or gift cards], and it can even be 1p. Then all you need to do is buy it, take it to the checkout and check your app. [After] about 20 seconds you’re going to have a spin-to-win offer that you can spin, and then they’ll give you some free fruit.
“They’re not just going to give you one banana. It can be a pack of strawberries, pack of raspberries […]” The content creator explained you can use the offer once a day, every single day until the offer runs out.
In the video, the shopper can be seen buying a jar of dried parsley, and then instantly get his ‘spin-to-win offer’. After spinning the wheel, he was presented with a voucher for a free 150g punnet of blueberries or raspberries. He could then go back, pick the item up, and check out again.
