A driving expert took to TikTok to share a ‘little-known’ feature on your car’s air conditioning which can be used all year – including during the winter months
While the UK enjoys sunny weather conditions, it’s understandable to maximise the use of your air conditioning in the car.
Whether you’re driving down 20mph roads or enjoying a little cruise on the motorway, it’s pretty standard to whack the AC on full blast when it’s hot outside. Recently, people only just spotted a ‘magic’ air conditioning button to save you a fortune.
And now it turns out you can use your cold air all year round – even in winter. According to TikTok user @master_driver666, who boasts 798,400 followers, there’s a hidden function you’ve probably never noticed for all weather conditions.
It can be used for winter, rainy conditions and traffic jams which was shown in a recent video on the platform. The poster revealed how to make use of the AC unit without being heavy on fuel too.
The user detailed each method and captioned the video: “How to use the car’s air conditioning buttons?” This instant hit clip showcased the four functions, including the common button for a warm summer’s day which involves switching the circulation feature on to save petrol.
For the colder winter season, the process is somewhat inverse to the summer routine. In misty, rainy conditions, the AC can be turned on without activating the circulation, and engaging the rear windscreen button which helps reduce fog accumulation in no time.
A lesser-known tip pointed out by the user was the usage of AC during traffic when most drivers resort to rolling down their windows. But now with this trick, you don’t need to have those windows down when you’re crawling in traffic.
The post soon went viral, racking up around 1,200 likes and eliciting hundreds of shares. Comments ranged from the bewildered “Nah this is crazy,” to enquiring “Don’t you have to turn off the AC?”
