Edgware Road in North West London has been closed since 10.40pm on Tuesday (June 4) after a man was stabbed to death and police also investigate reports of a shooting. The busy road has been shut between Church Street and the A404 Harrow Road ( Marylebone Flyover) – near Edgware Road London Underground station.

Met Police officers were called to reports of a fight on Bell Street, at the junction with Edgware Road. When officers arrived they found a man had been stabbed and they administered CPR before London Ambulance Service paramedics arrived.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services, the man – aged in his late 20s – died at the scene. A Met Police spokesperson said they believe they know who the man is and are working to inform his next of kin.

Three men have been arrested and remain in custody at Central London police stations. A number of crime scenes are in place and urgent enquiries are progressing. It was reported that at least one gunshot had been fired.

The disruption has meant that several London bus services have had to be diverted. These are the 6, 16 and 98. The road is blocked in both directions according to traffic analyst service Inrix. It would be wise to avoid the area when travelling due to the disruption.

The London Ambulance Service (LAS) has been contacted for comment.
