Four gunshots were heard in Brixton last night (Monday, May 20) on a road which is now closed due to a ‘police incident’. Tulse Hill A204 has been closed between Brailsford Road and Brixton Water Lane A2214 since 10pm last night and several London bus services have been diverted. Brixton Water Lane has also been closed.

An anonymous witness told MyLondon that they had heard four gunshots in the area last night and that the nearby Sainsbury’s supermarket has a smashed window and is closed until further notice due to a police incident.

Traffic seems to be holding up well around the site which is near the north end of Brockwell Park.

However, the closure still has caused disruption as several London bus services have had to be diverted. These are the 2, 415, 432, SL6 and the N2. If you are planning to use these routes, follow along to get updates on their diversions, or click here to see TfL updates.

The Met Police and London Ambulance Service (LAS) have been contacted for a statement about the incident.
