Londoners are set to find out who will be their mayor and who will represent them on the city’s Assembly. Voters went to the polls on Thursday, May 2, and results are expected to be announced later today (Saturday, May 4).
If he beats his Tory, Lib Dem, Green and other rivals, Sadiq Khan would become the longest serving Mayor of London ever after starting his first stint in 2016. He would remain in the post until at least 2028.
During an exclusive interview with MyLondon in March, Mr Khan did not rule out running for a fourth term, saying he would fight for the office for as long as voters want him. He has said throughout the campaign that the vote in the capital is a close ‘two horse race’.

On Wednesday, Conservative candidate, Susan Hall, told party campaigners in Chingford: “We are in a very, very good position.” But she added that the party had to ‘get out the vote’.
The London Assembly is made up of 25 people and is separate from the mayor’s office. Its function is to hold the city’s leader to account.
Declarations of constituency representatives are due to take place at count venues across the city today. The declaration of mayoral and London-wide Assembly Member results will take place at City Hall in the evening.
