A Tube line has been suspended while emergency services work to safely clear a car teetering on an embankment near tracks after the driver reportedly suffered a ‘medical episode at the wheel. The incident has happened at Southfields Station, which sits on the District line between East Putney and Wimbledon Park.

Transport for London (TfL) issued a status update on their website on Wednesday afternoon (May 8). It reads: ‘No service between Parsons Green and Wimbledon while police respond to an incident at Southfields. Good service on the rest of the line.’

A British Transport Police spokesperson told The Mail Online : “Officers were called to the line near Southfields Underground station at around 2.55pm today (May 8) following reports that a car had gone through the fences alongside the railway line. Officers attended, alongside colleagues from the London Fire Brigade, Network Rail, and the Metropolitan Police Service and work is ongoing to clear any obstructions from the tracks.

“It is believed the driver of the vehicle suffered a medical episode and they have been treated by paramedics.”

TfL and the LAS have been contacted for comment.
