Live: Tommy Robinson rally and Jeremy Corbyn counter-protest sees thousands descend on London

An estimated 1,000 police officers have been dispatched as right-wing activist Tommy Robinson has organised a rally in Trafalgar Square today (Saturday, July 27). Stand Up To Racism and other groups have organised a counter march against Robinson’s rally with Jeremy Corbyn being prominently involved, the Express reported.

A third march for Trans Pride is also due to happen today from Langham Place ending at Wellington Arch where speeches will take place. Robinson, real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, has arranged his march to start at the Royal Court of Justice on The Strand and end at Trafalgar Square where speeches will take place. Here a stage with a large screen has been set up.

Stand Up To Racism’s march will set off from Russell Square, ending in Whitehall where a rally will take place. Conditions have been put in place by police under the Public Order Act to keep serious disruption at bay, the said. They have outlined specific areas in which activists must gather and not deviate from. Robinson’s rally must be disbanded by 5.30pm.

Stand Up To Racism’s march must not begin until 1.30pm and must be disbanded by 4pm. Further details of these pre planned routes and timings will be posted in our live blog below.
