Live: Tottenham murder probe updates after man stabbed in the street by Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

A man has been killed in North London. Police raced to Northumberland Park in Tottenham, at about 5.50am this morning (April 7) to reports of the stabbing.

There they found the victim – a man – who was unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene. No arrests have been made.

Photos posted online show a crime scene set up next to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The team is due to play Nottingham Forest at the stadium at 6pm this evening, with thousands of supporters expected to attend.

Officers believe they know who the victim is, and are working to inform his relatives. Anyone with information should call 101 ref CAD 1387/7 Apr. To remain 100% anonymous contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Chief Inspector Stephen Johnston-Keay, who polices in Haringey, said: “Our thoughts are with the man who has tragically lost his life. I can assure local people that specialist detectives are investigating and will leave no stone unturned in working to establish what happened to him, and to identify and arrest those responsible.

“I would like to thank local people for their patience and understanding while we go about this crucial work. If you have information that could help us, no matter how insignificant it may seem, please tell us.

“You will see officers on the cordons and on patrol and they will be ready to listen to you.”

An LAS spokesperson said: “We were called at 6.12am this morning (April 7) to reports of a stabbing in Northumberland Park, N17

“We sent resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, a fast-response car and an incident response officer. We also dispatched a trauma team from London’s Air Ambulance by car.

“Sadly, despite the best efforts of the emergency services, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.”
