For a full day, the heavens will open over London

London is set for a full 24 hours of heavy rain, according to the latest forecast from the Met Office. Meteorologists have issued a yellow weather warning for ‘heavy and prolonged rain’, saying it could even lead to flooding in parts of the city.

The warning begins early on Friday morning (November 14), at 6am, and continues to 6am the next day. If you’re planning on getting out and about on Saturday, it may be wise to pack a pair of wellies.

It doesn’t just affect London, however, the bad weather stretching deep into the West Country and Wales, and north almost as far as Manchester. To the south, it ends in northern Kent.

While the Met Office admits the chances are slim, it has warned that the rain may result in power cuts, flood damage and difficult driving conditions.

The good news is that once the rain is done on Saturday morning, it looks more or less dry for the foreseeable. Sunday (November 16), Monday (November 17) and Tuesday (November 18) all have a ‘low chance of rain’, with temperatures generally sitting between 8C and 12C.

Do bear in mind, however, that this is very changeable, and it’s not guaranteed that these days will be totally dry.

Meanwhile, a weather map shows when London could see snowfall. WX Charts forecasts snow could fall over London on Thursday, November 20 during the early hours of the morning.

The map indicates snow is also set to hit other areas of the UK, such as the East coast, parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland.

The BBC agrees there is likely to be a frosty start to Thursday in its latest London weather forecast. It has predicted sleet to fall over London throughout the early hours of the morning, from 6am to 9am, with temperatures as low as 2C.
