The boiling weather is not to last as forecasters down at the BBC predict thermostats will dip after a boiling hot weekend. It is thought to be an insane 34C today (Saturday, June 21) but by next Thursday (June 26) it will be have plummeted to 26C.
This may be a welcome break from the heat for those who aren’t massive fans. However while we are stuck in the heatwave we must be careful, especially as The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and the Met Office have issued an amber heat-health alert (HHA) for all regions of England.
The alert began at noon on Thursday (June 19) to 9am on Monday (June 23). So until temperatures start dipping drink plenty of water, and stay out the sun between 11am and 3pm as that’s when it’s at its most intense.
Dr Agatha Nortley-Meshe, Medical Director for Primary Care in London said: “We are expecting some very hot weather over the weekend, and I would like people, to not only enjoy the sun, but also be safe by taking precautions to keep well and avoid putting pressure on services,” she said. “We advise people to keep out of the sun at the hottest time of the day, between 11am and 3pm.
