BBC Weather is predicting a grim start to November
The start of November will be bleak, with London set for a week of near-constant rainfall. BBC Weather is predicting light downpours to hit at around 1am on Friday, October 31, with the sun attempting to come out later in the day.
The wet weather will continue over the entire weekend, a forecast that is sure to dampen any Halloween plans. The latest update reads: “Friday will be a windy day with areas of cloud, showers sweeping in from the south-west, and a few sunny breaks around these. Breezy on Saturday with early heavy rain clearing to leave sunshine.
“On Sunday, a few showers around to start, but again turning dry and brighter by the afternoon.” Monday to Thursday will bring little to no change, as the rain is expected to continue in soft showers.
This will be paired with some moderate breeze, though nothing more than 15mph. However, from next Friday (November 7), things start to brighten up and the capital will see three days of uninterrupted sunshine.
Saturday should be mild, with temperatures peaking at around 14C in the afternoon. Sunday is much the same, with sunny spells, gentle breeze and highs of around 13C.
But, how long will the clear skies stick around? The Met Office says it won’t be long at all.
The authority foresees a period of changeable and unsettled weather through November, bringing further showers and longer spells of rain at time. Its long-range forecast reads: “All parts could see some heavy rain, but it is likely that western areas will be wettest. Strong winds are likely from time to time, with gales or severe gales a possibility.
“Equally there should also be some, at least brief, drier or clearer interludes, these more prevalent further east, but perhaps becoming a little more widespread and long-lasting by the end of the period.”
Overnight fog and frost is then set to move in between November 12 and November 26, causing temperatures to plummet in the early hours. However, the wet and windy weather is more likely to affect areas further to the north.
