The latest weather forecast predicts a rather gloomy bank holiday weekend. Although the last few days have been sunny and warm, things are about to change.

According to BBC Weather, temperatures will average 20C on Saturday (May 24) and Sunday (May 25). But these two days will also be marked by constant rain, the forecaster says.

However, the precipitation should not linger for long. WXCharts predicts that the weather will be fairly dry from Sunday evening onwards, but with lots of rain over England and Wales forecast too, according to the map below.

And on Monday (May 26), the sun will be out all day, before the rain returns for the rest of the week.

A spokesperson for the Met Office stated: “As we head into the bank holiday weekend and following week, a change in weather type is expected.

“More unsettled conditions are likely to develop, with weather systems moving in from the Atlantic. The change is likely to happen first in the northwest, probably later on Friday or through Saturday.

“This will see frontal systems bringing spells of rain, perhaps heavy at times, with a risk of strong winds in places, and these conditions will gradually spread across the UK as we go through the weekend. Drier and brighter intervals are likely between systems but with showers, some of which could be heavy/thundery.”
