There is chaos on the London Underground network this morning (Tuesday, November 4), which is likely to wreak havoc on the rat race. Three lines are down, including the Elizabeth line for reasons varying from track faults to severe delays.

The CCTV is also not working in the Blackwall Tunnel northbound, meaning commuters are moving painfully slowly with reports of commuters ‘having horror journeys’ into work and not moving for 20 minutes at a time.

MyLondon is told it’s taking the SL4 bus 35 minutes to travel from the top of Blackheath and Greenwich at the Sun in the Sands Roundabout to reach the Silvertown Tunnel.

Here is a breakdown of the London Underground chaos:

  • Elizabeth line – Severe delays between Shenfield and Whitechapel following a late finish of engineering work at Romford.
  • Metropolitan line – No service between Baker Street and Aldgate due to a track fault at Baker Street.
  • Piccadilly line – No service between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge all day to prevent damage to train wheels caused by expected significant leaf fall.
