London Underground map that’s ‘fairer to South London’ that was drawn up by little boy

A South London mum has shown off her son’s imaginative redesign of the Tube map, aiming to ‘make it fairer to South London’, and it’s been met with heaps of admiration online.

The lad’s vision includes ambitious expansions to several Tube lines and a significant boost to the tram network, even proposing a new line reaching across the Thames to win over North Londoners, cheekily adding “for North London buy-in.”

His proposals include stretching the Elizabeth line to Gatwick Airport and South Bromley, extending the Piccadilly line to Biggin Hill, and branching the Central line out to Coulsdon Town.

He doesn’t stop there; the District line and London Overground would reach as far as Orpington, while the Jubilee and Northern lines would see new stops in Sutton and Epsom.

The Circle line would take a grand detour south to loop through Wandsworth, Brixton, and Peckham, and the DLR would find its terminus in Gravesend.

Under his plan, the Hammersmith and City line would make tracks for Kingston, and the Bakerloo line would conclude its journey at Hayes.

Yet, it’s the tram network that gets the most dramatic makeover, with proposed extensions forging paths to Orpington, Watford Junction, Staines, and even Chessington Theme Park.

One impressed South London local reacted to the detailed scheme by saying: “I ride the tram every day, and I would love it if we had this. Imagine taking the tram all the way to Watford.”

One person was clearly impressed, commenting: “This is an outstanding piece work! Kudos to your son. If he ever stands for Mayor he has my vote! “.

Another added with a touch of humour: “Even as a north Londoner, this is fantastic! Well done to your son!”
