A 2001 documentary about the Arctic appears to have captured the moment a mysterious, huge creature – believed by some to be ‘Bigfoot’ – was filmed chasing a herd of caribou
A long-lost documentary might just have given Bigfoot believers some fresh evidence.
Footage from the 2001 nature film Great North seems to show the elusive ‘Bigfoot’ hot on the heels of a caribou herd. The doc, which delves into the stunning vistas of the Arctic, inadvertently features a scene where a mysterious figure, resembling a giant, hairy ape-like creature, is seen chasing after the animals.
The figure makes a brief appearance, sprinting behind the herd before vanishing behind a ridge, sparking speculation that it could be the legendary creature itself. Cinematographer William Reeve, who worked on the documentary, has dismissed claims that the figure could be a member of the crew.
Speaking to ThinkerThunker on YouTube, he insisted: “There was no one on camera except for myself at the riverside. And the entire crew was on the riverside of the camera, the riverside of the shoot… There was no one on foot.” He also stressed the strict protocol they followed, saying: “Anyone who got into the shot who was a crew member would have to buy the beers at night, so that’s just bad protocol.
“There’s absolutely no way we would put a human being in that peril.” When quizzed about the possibility of an outsider wandering into the frame, Reeve was adamant: “There were no strangers for hundreds of miles of where we were. It was only us and a very small crew. We had a skeleton crew of only nine people and used two helicopters to sometimes reposition the herds.”
Reeve even tackled the suggestion that the figure could have been a bear, firmly ruling out that possibility too, reports the Daily Star. “If a bear had given chase it would have been running on all four paws and in a horizontal position,” he explained. “This object that we’re seeing is more upright and appearing to be running on two legs.”
