Lorraine Kelly has announced her comeback to television following her keyhole surgery to remove her ovaries and fallopian tubes.

The 65-year-old presenter underwent a “purely preventative” procedure on May 3 at Heatherwood Hospital in Ascot, after reportedly feeling unwell for a while. She reassured her Instagram followers that she would be “totally fine” post-surgery.

On May 4, Lorraine informed fans via the social platform that she was healing at home, and now she’s revealed on Instagram her intention to return to hosting her self-titled ITV1 daytime programme on Monday (May 19).

Sharing a snap with her gynaecologist Ahmed Raafat alongside her granddaughter Billie, Lorraine captioned: “I had my check up today, and the fabulous Ahmed Raafat says I can go back to work on Monday – as long as I take it easy. Billie obviously loved him. Huge thanks to Mr. Raafat and his top team who’ve chosen to work here and help us – from countries like Croatia, Nepal and all over Europe, Africa and the Caribbean – what on earth would we do without you.”

‘She’s All Good’ is one way Lorraine’s friends expressed their delight about ‘The Masked Singer’ 2024 participant’s recovery and appreciation for the international NHS workers.

TV’s own Dr Amir Khan, a regular face on ‘Lorraine’, commented: “So glad to hear you are better, and you are right, our NHS and care system owe a debt of gratitude to overseas workers.”

‘Loose Women’ panel member Katie Piper, 41, commented: “Lovely to see you smiling.” Meanwhile, ‘Lorraine’ guest presenter Christine Lampard, 46, responded with three red heart emojis.

One of Lorraine’s followers, Ruth Burns, expressed her fear about undergoing keyhole surgery – a procedure involving small incisions to perform operations within the abdomen and pelvis. However, Lorraine was quick to offer words of comfort.

Lorraine reassured her, saying: “You will be fine, Ruth – let me know how you get on. You just take care of yourself and rest afterwards.”

Lorraine, who is married to Steve Smith and has a daughter named Rosie, couldn’t express enough gratitude for the “caring, gorgeous professionals” at Heatherwood Hospital who took care of her.

Sharing a photo alongside some of the nurses on Instagram on May 4, Lorraine wrote: “Huge thanks to these kind, caring, gorgeous professionals who took care of me at @heatherwoodhospital – back home now and following doctors orders to rest up – My surgeon Mr Ahmed Rafaat has been so reassuring throughout – and I can’t thank the whole team enough! (sic)”.
