Love Island’s Jess White has been branded “mean” by viewers, after she was shown defending Ciaran Davies following his savage remark to Harriett during a game of Never Have I Ever
Love Island fans have slammed Jess White after she laughed at a visibly upset Harriett Blackmore during last night’s episode, with some branding the retail manager “nasty”.
In dramatic scenes on Wednesday night, Ciaran Davies made a ruthless remark about Harriett being “second choice” in the villa “three times”, during a heated game of Never Have I Ever. The comment came after Harriett labelled the 21-year-old “immature”, but the below-the-belt dig sparked a huge reaction from the Islanders, with the dancer firing back a “f*** you” before storming off in tears.
While some viewers accused Ciaran of going “too far” with his insult, others claimed that Jess should have been more supportive of Harriett. Following the rugby player’s shocking blow, Jess was shown laughing before defending Ciaran with: “But the thing is, it’s tit for tat. People give it and people taking it. So it is what it is.”

Unimpressed fans rushed to X to share their reaction to the explosive scenes, with some labelling Jess’ response as “mean”. One fan penned: “Nah I’m not being funny but if any man but especially my man started talking to my friend like that in front of no one or anyone, you bet i’ll be the first to tell them to wind their neck in, and don’t even start me on Jess, nasty nasty girls in there.”
Another echoed: “Get Jess out and for Nicole just to sit there while Ciaran was being nasty that shows you who true friends are, glad Ronnie was there to say Harriett was 1st.” “Jess and Nicole make out they’re girls girls but don’t go and make sure Harriett is ok? They sit there and laugh instead,” wrote a third, while another shared: “Jess did not need to insert herself in that situation. That lady is mean.”
A fifth added: “What the hell is Jess’s problem. Not a girl’s girl at all.” While another posted: “Jess is just salty that she can’t have Ron let’s be honest so she throws a lot of shade towards Harriett because of that situation.”
Tensions between Harriett and Jess hit breaking point after they were entangled in a love triangle with Ronnie Vint earlier in the series, which saw the footballer struggle to decide which direction to take. However, the rivalry came to an apparent halt after Ronnie coupled up with bombshell Tiffany Leighton, following her dramatic entrance into the villa.

This romance was short-lived and Ronnie soon set his eyes back on Harriett, which sparked frustration from Jess, who admitted she was still “open” to get to know the footballer. In a recent episode, Ronnie told Jess that he can only see her as a “friend”, which has put further strain on the girls’ relationship.
It was also later revealed that Jess and Ronnie had made each other’s heart rates go the highest during the iconic Heart Rate Challenge, with Harriett seeming annoyed with the result.
