Luton mosque ‘attack’ leaves door vandalised and covered in holes

An alleged attack on a mosque in Luton has left its door covered in damage. Video of the Ebrahim Cultural Centre shows the front door left full of holes following the incident.

Police say that an incident of criminal damage took place at the mosque in Dudley Street, Luton, on Saturday (May 24). A post on a local community group alleges that no one was inside the mosque at the time.

Video posted to the same group shows two of the mosque’s doors left vandalised by holes made in them. Bedfordshire Police has said that they attended the centre and that they are continuing to offer their support.

Inspector Vick Sanghera from the Luton Community Policing team said: “We were made aware of an incident of criminal damage at the Ebrahim Cultural Centre in Dudley Street, Luton, on Saturday (24 May).

“We recognise the impact incidents like this have on our communities and are committed to working alongside local partners to ensure they feel safe and supported. All places of worship should be spaces that are respected and a place where people are able to come together in peace.

“Our Community Cohesion team have attended the centre and will continue to offer support and reassurance.”
