‘Severe delays’ expected – National Highways
Motorists can expect “severe” delays this morning after a lorry crash and oil spillage on the M25 near Surrey.
The road is likely to need resurfacing before it can reopen. A diversion has been put in place for affected traffic.
A spokesperson for National Highways said: “Motorists are being warned to expect severe delays anticlockwise on the M25 today between junctions 6 (Godstone) and 5 (M26) following a multi-vehicle collision.
“The incident involves an overturned waste tanker, resulting in a significant diesel and oil spill over the carriageway.
“Emergency services are working at the scene, and specialist contractors are en route to assess the damage, with the road likely to need resurfacing before it can be reopened.
“Significant delays are expected, with motorists advised to allow more time and plan for their journeys or avoid the route if possible.”
