Magic: The Gathering x Marvel’s Spider Man swings into view, so here’s an exclusive look at a new card.
Wizards of the Coast has officially revealed Magic: The Gathering Marvel’s Spider-Man , the first full Marvel-themed expansion for Magic: The Gathering. The set was announced at PAX West 2025 and is scheduled for global release on September 26.
The expansion focuses on characters and storylines from the Spider-Verse, incorporating multiple versions of Spider-Man and related heroes, including Peter Parker, Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy, and Cindy Moon. Villains such as Venom, Doctor Octopus, and Green Goblin are also featured, alongside a coordinated appearance by the Sinister Six.
Set Features and Mechanics
The set introduces several new mechanics. One is “Web-Slinging,” an alternate casting cost that allows players to cast certain spells by returning a tapped creature they control to its owner’s hand. Another is “Pick 2 Draft,” a Limited format variant where players select two cards per draft pick, designed to encourage synergy and multiversal pairings.
Visual treatments include Showcase Scene cards — multi-card spreads that form comic-style panels — and borderless costume variants representing different Spider-Man incarnations, such as Spider-Man Noir and Spider-Man 2099.
Infinity Stones and Artifact Integration
The Soul Stone appears in three versions within the set, each with distinct artwork and flavor text. Wizards has not confirmed whether additional Infinity Stones will appear in future expansions, but their inclusion suggests potential for broader Marvel integration.
Card Preview: Spider UK
Wizards also previewed Spider UK , a new legendary creature card featured in the set. The card includes the Web-Slinging mechanic and offers benefits for aggressive battlefield development.
Spider-UK Mana Cost: 2 Colourless, 1 White Legendary Creature – Spider Human Hero Web-Slinging (You may cast this spell for 2 colourless and 1 white mana if you also return a tapped creature you control to its owner’s hand.) Text: At the beginning of your end step, if two or more creatures entered the battlefield under your control this turn, you draw a card and gain two life. Power/Toughness: 3/4 Flavor Text: “Spiders Across the Multiverse are dying. I must keep them safe.”
The card seems to be designed to support tempo-based strategies and synergizes with token generation and bounce effects. Its ability triggers at end step, providing card advantage and life gain under specific conditions.
Availability and Preorders
Magic: The Gathering Marvel’s Spider-Man will be available in Draft Boosters, Collector Boosters, and Welcome Decks. The latter are intended to provide accessible entry points for new players. Preorders are currently open through local game stores and online retailers.
