Iceland is a dream-visit destination for plenty of travellers and now one Brit found a magical, budget-friendly stay where you can sleep under the Northern Lights

There are a variety of travel destinations to suit different types of holidaymakers, including those wanting to relax on a beach in the sunshine and others looking for some adventure and activities. Iceland is a popular tourist destination for its nature and landscapes, such as volcanoes, glaciers and black sand beaches, and outdoor activities like whale watching.

A common reason many tourists visit, or dream of visiting, Iceland is to see the Northern Lights as it is one of the best places in the world to see this colourful spectacle. The Nordic island country in northern Europe is generally considered to be expensive to visit so some travellers save it for a special occasion rather than a regular holiday.

However, a Brit named Charlie found somewhere unique to stay on his Icelandic holiday that didn’t cost a fortune.

He spent a night in a glass igloo by Aurora Igloo based in the small town of Hella in southern Iceland. The tourist shared a video on TikTok of the igloo surrounded by snow with a bed, curtains and cosy lights inside.

His stay cost him around ÂŁ200 and guests can sleep under the Northern Lights with a clear view of the night sky.

Charlie, who is using his annual leave to go on exciting trips, described the experience as “magical.”

In the caption of his post he wrote: “Imagine lying in bed while the Aurora Borealis dances overhead, surrounded by Iceland’s rugged landscapes.

“The igloo-style cabins come with cosy interiors, modern comforts, and the ultimate view of the night sky.

“It’s the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation, without breaking the bank – proof that luxury travel in Iceland doesn’t always have to cost a fortune. Who else is adding this to their travel list?”

Aurora Igloo guests can choose between a standard and private igloo to suit their preferences.

Both types feature a double bed, heating and charming decor but standard igloos come with a shared bathroom and shower facilities located a short walk from the domes whereas private igloos come with an exclusive, private bathroom.

Charlie’s TikTok clip has amassed thousands of views and likes and hundreds of comments.

A travel agent in the comments section shared: “I’ve had clients stay in these before! They absolutely loved them!”

Another viewer said: “Just stayed in one of those last week! Truly amazing!!” A third added: “Thank you for this! Great alternative to Lapland.”

A different user exclaimed: “Wow! Looks incredible.” Others left comments, such as “that’s hella beautiful”, “incredible” and “this is on my bucket list.”

Charlie advised you can book a stay at Aurora Igloo on Booking.com with mid week prices around ÂŁ200 and higher prices on weekends.
