NOW Broadband has confirmed it will be hiking prices for thousands of customers this summer.

The broadband arm of Now, which is owned by Sky, will be increasing the price of its broadband tariffs from Friday, July 5. Customers will see their bills increase by £36 a year – which is around £3 more each month. The price hikes were confirmed in a statement posted on NOW’s website.

This read: “We understand that things are tough right now, and so alongside investing in improvements, we’re committed to keeping prices as low as we can. The costs of providing services have, however, increased significantly, and it’s affecting the entire industry. Many other providers have raised their prices, and we’ll be making some changes too. The prices of our broadband membership plans will be going up by £3. You’ll see the price change reflected in your bill on or after 5 July 2024.”

However, some customers won’t be affected by the price rises. The firm’s social tariff – the NOW Broadband Basics – will not rise and will remain at £20 a month. This broadband tariff is available to people on low incomes, such as those claiming Universal Credit. Neither will TV-only customers or Now Full Fibre 100 customers either.

According to advice from Martin Lewis’ MSE website, if you are a Now broadband customer, you can leave “fee-free” if you are unhappy with the July price increase. You will need to do this within 31 days from the date you were notified of the price hike. If you don’t do this, you could face an early termination charge which is also going up from July 5.

The website says: “All NOW Broadband Members should have received an email about the price rise. In case you were concerned because it was sent from Sky, rather than NOW, don’t worry – the email is genuine (NOW is part of the Sky family).”

According to NOW’s website, you will be charged £20.23 a month for the remaining time of your contract to cancel your SuperFibre contract, £18.64 a month to cancel your Fab Bibre, and £18.82 for the Brilliant Broadband package. This is up from the £18.32, £16.69, and £16.57 you are charged now.
