Man, 21, killed after M11 crash near Stansted Airport

A 21-year-old man has died in a crash on the M11 near Stansted Airport, police have confirmed. Officers were called to the motorway between Harlow and Bishops Stortford just after 2.30pm following reports of a smash involving a lorry and two cars.

One of the drivers sadly died at the scene, while a second man is fighting for his life in hospital a day after the crash. Essex Police said the driver of the HGV, aged 57, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and causing injury by careless driving.

He has since been released on police bail. From 2.30pm yesterday the M11 was shut between junctions seven and eight while police carried out a full investigation. Enquiries continues into how the crash took place.
