A man has been arrested after a teenage girl was allegedly raped in a train toilet. The attack took place at around 6.05am on Saturday July 19, when the 17-year-old girl was on the platform towards Abbey Wood at Woolwich Arsenal train station.
According to British Transport Police (BTP), she was sexually assaulted on the platform. Both then got on the train towards Abbey Wood at around 6.09am. Soon afterwards it is alleged that the girl was raped in a carriage toilet.
The man left the station at Abbey Wood, while the girl stayed on board by herself to Slade Green railway station and later reported the rape. A suspect, 30, was arrested on July 24 on suspicion of rape.
He was later released on bail pending further enquiries. British Transport Police officers urgently asking anyone who was at Woolwich Arsenal station and may have seen the pair on the platform, or the train, to contact police immediately.
You can text BTP on 61016, or call 0800 40 50 40, using the reference 288 of 22 July. Alternatively, you can anonymously contact Crimestoppers.
