Police are describing it as a ‘complex investigation’ and are urging anyone with information to come forward

A man has been charged with the murders of two women and the rape of a third in what police have described as a “complex investigation”.

Simon Levy, 40, of Beaufoy Road, Tottenham, North London, was charged on Thursday, November 20, with the murder of 53-year-old Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo in Walford, South London, and he is due to appear via video-link at Westminster Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Tuesday, November 25).

Police were called to the Aylesbury Estate of Walworth on Monday, March 17, to reports of an injured woman. There, they found the body of Carmenza, who was pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation was launched after a post-mortem examination was unable to determine a cause of death.

On Tuesday, April 1, Levy was arrested on suspicion of murder. He was released under investigation while enquiries continued, including additional tests which remain ongoing to determine a cause of death.

Some five months later – on Thursday, September 4 – Levy was re-arrested in connection with Carmenza’s death and also for the murder of Sheryl Wilkins, 39, who died on Sunday, August 24, in High Road, Tottenham.

Levy was charged with Sheryl’s murder on Sunday, September 7. While in custody, he was further arrested in relation to a separate incident on Tuesday, January 21, involving a separate woman in High Road, Tottenham. He was charged with two counts of rape, grievous bodily harm, and intentional suffocation in relation to that.

All three cases are now being treated as part of a single, joined investigation. A trial date has been set for June 2026 at the Old Bailey. Detectives believe there may be individuals who have information relevant to this investigation – or who are yet to report incidents which have directly impacted them – and are asking for people to come forward.

Commander Clair Kelland said: “As the lead for public protection at the Met, one of our main priorities is to better protect women and girls. The investigation into Simon Levy is one of great complexity.

“We are working closely with partners across relevant boroughs, including Haringey and Southwark, to encourage reporting and raise awareness of the support we can provide to victim-survivors. Whether you are a victim-survivor, or someone with information, we urge you to come forward and speak to us.”

Jaswant Narwal of the Crown Prosecution Service said: “Following an investigation by the Metropolitan Police Service, the Crown Prosecution Service has made the decision to prosecute Simon Levy for the murder of Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo, a 54-year-old-woman from Colombia.

“Simon Levy will appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 25 November 2025. We remind all concerned that proceedings against the defendant are active and he has a right to a fair trial.”

Anyone with information can contact the incident room directly on 07751 700 330 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
