A 46-year-old man has been taken to hospital following a stabbing in Kennington early this morning (July 21). He was attacked on Kennington Road at around 2.40am, with police and paramedics called to the junction with Kennington Lane.
The victim’s injuries are not life-threatening, according to a statement issued by the Metropolitan Police. Officers are now investigating the incident, but are yet to make an arrest in connection.
A cordon remained in place between Kennington Lane and Sancroft Street until 11am whilst enquiries were made.
Multiple London bus routes, including 3, 59, 159 and SL6, were on diversion due to the closure.
Traffic was heavy along Kennington Road and Kennington Lane as a result.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “On Monday, 21 July police were called to Kennington Road, SE11 at 02:42hrs following reports of a stabbing.
“Met officers attended the scene alongside paramedics who treated a 46-year-old man for stab wounds before taking him to hospital.
“His injuries have been confirmed to be non-life threatening. At this early stage in the investigation, there has been no arrest.”
The London Ambulance Service has been contacted for more information.
